I will not blame Fandi for the 8th position that we are in right now... I think we did not perform too badly considering that we lost some very important players last season. Bai, Harris and Sharil formed the backbone of the team last season.. When this trio left, the replacements were young players from the Court Young Lions where they have not had vast experience in playing in the MSL. To their credit, they still performed reasonably well... Afiq has been a towering figure at the back and managed to score as well... Zulfahmie has been a revelation this season and Khairul had been scoring some patchy goals... Not forgetting that we lost our Captain Isa Halim earlier in the season... which left only Khairul as the only overage player in the first 11.. In comparison, last season we have at least 3 to 4 overage players in the first 11 at any time... Bai, Sharil, Isa and Irwan
We have not lost by a big margin so far.. All the losses in this season were narrow losses and it could turn either way.. We were also half done by the ref where penalties were given incorrectly. We were still very competitive in all our games and we managed to win many games on the roads this season... We need to give this team to grow... They needed our support and not all this negative bashing...
As for those who thinks Fandi is not a good player, think again.. He was Singapore first sportman who earn a million dollars. He is and the only player score in the Europe Cup against Inter Milan. He was the top scorer in the Malaysia League back in the 1980s on several occasion, he brought the Malaysia cup back to Singapore in 1994 after 14 long years... His goals that year were crucial and well taken.. Who can forget the goal that he score against Pahang in the final... Who can forget the winning goal that he scored at the Kallang stadium against Pahang, how abt the bicycle kick that he score against Johor at the Larkin stadium... He is more than a football player, he is Singapore legend!!"
